Imagine Museum St. Petersburg

WOW, did we have a GREAT Event at the Imagine Museum on Wednesday 7/11, it was beyond our wildest imagination!!

32 members & guests attended and Lisa Ferrer, the museum’s Assoc. Dir. of Development went all out for us!! She is a real pro, even down to the small details like providing us with name tags and I had tears in my eyes when I saw her visual, Welcome BACA and our Logo on the big screen monitor above Lord Byron’s check-in station… Thank you Lisa for making us feel at home!!

Speaking of home, the museum resides in an enormous, re-purposed space formally occupied many years ago by the Imagine Charter School, hence the name tie-in, Imagine Museum. And when you see all the glass objects d’art, they will ‘blow’ your imagination! With some of them it was hard to tell if they were even made of glass, with such variation, some looked more like stone. Lisa, along with Jane Buckman the museum’s Deputy Director, split our group and guided us on what felt like an unending tour through room after room after room after room of exhibits, each with a different theme; and that was only on Level 1 !! A Second Floor was in preparation mode for artist Paul Stankard’s exhibit that was to open the following evening and which will be on display through 1/19/2019. Lisa so generously provided us each with a few passes to return back; And make sure to visit next March 2019 when over 1,700 artists will be in attendance when the museum hosts the International Glass Art Society Conference …. We assembled in the atrium where Imagine’s Event Coordinator, Diana Hunter, had us set up in a reception area with a microphone so I could save my voice and plenty of tables and a bar that, in the future, may become a small café. Speaking of the bar, Thank-you John D. (from Lundy’s) for keeping the Stella’s popping and the wine flowing! Cristina Scaramuzzi, Dir. of Catering & Events at Locale Market, provided quite a spread that her assistant Eva oversaw and kept us well-fed on delicious goodies including Meatball Sliders, Fish Spread, Charcuterie and Fire-Grilled Vegetables. Remember Locale Market & their Farm Table Kitchen hosted BACA back on 8/16/2016, so please pass the word on to your guests to partake in their awesome offerings!

The museum’s hours are Tue-Sat. 10AM-5PM; Sun 12N-5PM = $15, Thursday evenings from 5-8PM = only $5! CLOSED MONDAYS. There is a nice Gift Shoppe full of neat & unique art objects if you wish to take a piece of the experience home with you or make a perfect Christmas gift for a friend. The museum has plenty of free parking in the rear in a huge lot that also can be tented for outdoor galas. A TREMENDOUS Thank you to these 3 amazing ladies, and a huge thank you to the museum’s benefactor, Trish Duggan, who made the museum possible, this is truly a big league art attraction that rivals the other institutions in the St. Petersburg Arts Circle and expands upon St. Pete being the Art & Museum Capitol of Florida!
